
OUR PASTOR
Rev. Dr. John D. Pasley, Jr.

Rev. Dr. John D. Pasley Jr. was named one of the top young African American ministers who is playing a major role in shaping the future of the black church by the African American Pulpit Journal (2001). He is a 1986 graduate of Covington High School. After graduation, he attended Morehouse College before transferring to Lane College in Jackson, TN.
While attending Lane College, he was awarded the Lewis Thomas Leadership Award and received a Scholarship from Nike Inc. and the UNCF. He’s a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. John graduated in 1993 from Lane College. After graduation, he matriculated at Tennessee State University earning a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Guidance and Counseling. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force Reserves receiving his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant Chaplin through Officers Candidate School in 1997. He earned a Master of Divinity degree in 2000 in Psychology of Pastoral Care / Chaplaincy from the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia. He was awarded the Doctorate of Counseling Psychology (C.PsyD.) with a Christian emphasis from Cornerstone Christian University in Orlando, Florida.
He presently serves as a District Support Coordinator for Student Behavior Intervention for the JMCSS and has a passion for helping young people. In addition, he serves as a Mental Health Chaplain and Bereavement Counselor for West Tennessee HealthCare. He is also the proud pastor of The Mt. Olive CME Church in Somerville, Tennessee, a growing congregation of believers who worship and serve with a purpose.
Rev. Dr. Pasley is a strong advocate for Mental Health as it relates to our children and youth and is the CEO of SoundPoint Counseling Services.
John has served faithfully as a pastor in the states of Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. He formerly pastored Mt. Pisgah CME Church and the Martin Memorial Temple CME church located in Memphis, Tennessee, and served the city of Memphis as a commissioner for Memphis City Beautiful.
While serving as pastor of the Central Metropolitan CME church in Jacksonville, Florida, he led the congregation into a major restoration and renovation of the church and sanctuary. His pride and joy are his two adult sons. He is married to the former Michelle Davis of Jacksonville, Florida.
